Based on the results of the competition, students will be able to qualify for the biennial National Scientific Students’ Conference (OTDK), It is one of the most prestigious scientific event in the country. The next will be held in 2027.
Call for Participation
The Scientific and Artistic Students’ Association (TDK) movement is the widest and most comprehensive form of talent management in Hungarian higher education, a platform of self-education, elite education and science education. Most talented students have their first scientific experience in the stimulating atmosphere of the TDK workshops, which are organised around masters, subject teachers and researchers.
The University’s Scientific and Artistic Student’s Association Council (ETDT), invites university students to submit their high-quality projects and works to the Conference, where they can win the right to participate in the 38th OTDK (2027), and thus present their results at the National Conference in front of their peers and the most outstanding experts in their field. We also invite teachers, researchers and developers in science and practice to help the new generation of scientists to develop their careers as consultants and juries.
Applicants to the TDK Conference are required to write, submit and then orally present a scientific/artistic paper. You have to choose a consultant to support you in your preparation. It is not necessary that the chosen topic related to your studies, but it will require more depth and detail than a normal term project.
In the case of written work, the content and form requirements are the same as those set out in the OTDK* call for papers: https://otdk.hu/otdk/szekcio-felhivasok.
Except the cover page: at the beginning of the thesis, the name of the author, the title of the work, the qualification of the degree, the grade, the name and position of the consultant(s) must be indicated.
Submissions nominated and accepted for the Conference must be presented orally in person (personal attendance) in the section on 7 May 2025, following the written assessment. Where justified, online presentation is also acceptable. For international students studying at Széchenyi István University, the language of the Conference is English.
During the presentation you will have 15 minutes to present the results, followed by further five minutes of discussion. The final paper will be presented in the sections of the Scientific Conference on 7 May, 2025, which will be compiled according to field of sciences. It is NOT necessary to send the PPT, which you prepared for your presentation in advance, just bring it with you on the day of the Conference on a flash drive/ pendrive or via email.
All authors and supervisors of the presented work will receive certificate at the TDK Conference. The works presented in the section could be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and a special prize. Places will be determined by the jury on the basis of the sum of the written and oral scores.
The written work will be assessed by one or two assessors, while the oral presentation will be evaluated by a jury on the day of the Conference.
The TDK Conference is not paired with a talent day this semester; therefore the result will be announced on the basis of the decision of the faculty, who organizes the section (either after the end of the section or within the framework of a separate event). You will be informed by email about qualifying to OTDK, the week after the Conference.
