National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (OTDK)

As the largest scientific event in the country, the OTDK provides a high-quality opportunity for talented creative young people to present themselves, and is an important element of our national strategic efforts regarding quality Hungarian higher education. The conference looks back on a six-decade history, and its prominent role in higher education talent management is also recorded by the law of the national higher education 2011/CCIV. The purpose of the conference series is to appreciate the work of talented students studying in higher education, the strength of teacher-student relationships.

The National Student Council (OTDT) with the ministry responsible for education and the main patronage of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as well as with the moral, professional and financial support of the ministries involved in higher education and institutions, organizations and foundations with national competence, announces the National Scientific Student Circle Conference. The event series is a defining event for the higher education institutions hosting the sections, and takes place with the active participation of thousands of applying students, supervisors, reviewers, sponsors, and interested parties. All this proves the continuous demand of young people for quality training. The OTDK's section events are always organized by the organizing institutions with broad social cooperation, giving priority to the grants received from the state's leading organizations.

Young people who have qualified for it with their performance at the previous institutional and faculty conferences can enter the sections, which are the national finals of each field of study. Hungarian university students from across the border, as well as outstanding high school research students, will also have the opportunity to introduce themselves and participate in the competition.

The only joint event of the conference series, the closing festive session usually held in November, takes place in the Banquet Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. At that time, the evaluation of the current OTDK will take place with the participation of the minister responsible for education and the president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as well as the awarding of the best students and their most successful masters, the presentation of the Pro Scientia Gold Medal, the Master Teacher Gold Medal and other awards of the OTDT.

The national conference is a forum for the presentation and evaluation of the scientific and artistic achievements of the best university and college students. It encourages institutional student activities, supports and recognizes the participants of student scientific activities in higher education: talented students, their masters, consultants, and provides assistance in research work to progress, for professional development and starting a career.
